C YA

Good day Ladies...and I guess this is also good bye, for now :)

It's been a wonderful two years. You've been wonderful... you ARE wonderful. And I hope that wherever you go and whatever you do, you remember that with confidence, there's nothing you can't do, or bear, or be!

I'd like to thank everyone at Curvation for their vision to not only create a "sensual and liveable" line of beautiful intimates for beautiful, curvaceous women, but also for their wisdom in wanting to create a community for sharing ideas amongst us: Curvation Nation, a true confidence Blog. I encourage you all to continue the spirit of the Blog amongst yourselves, in your own communities at home.

I wanted to write something longer but decided not to. If the archives remain on the site, you'll always be able to access just what you need to read when you need it. And if not, just know that you always have an all access pass to YOU and your own positive, healthy attitude.

Yvonne wrote something the other day, which I'd like to share with you now. I'll let hers be our parting words.

Take good care everyone... "shine on" (Queen Latifah), "stay blessed"(Erica), "love more" (C).

Love,

~ C

"Life is so full of changes, if you don't believe me just check with a reincarnated cave man. If he could come back today he would ask what happened to all of the dinosaurs? What happened to the caves in which they lived? What happened to the square wheels? I am not sure that he could survive in times like these because of all of the changes. I say that to say that we now must face another change and that is the fact that the Curvation Blog will no longer exist as of the last day of the month. I will agree with you that some changes are necessary and good but I will be one of the first to say that I am going to miss the connections between what has become like family to me. I am grateful to have been the first recipient of the Project Curvation Award and for all of the blessings that went along with that. Meeting all of the other dynamic contestants, Actress Songwriter, Queen Latifah and the phenomenal experience of being in New York to receive the award. To be able to journey to Ghana West Africa to meet the youth in the Gloria Pointer Teen Movement face to face, as a direct result of the Curvation Award was truly a major highlight in my life. As I consider the change I am both happy and sad. Happy because even with the blog going away the memories will last forever and sad because I will not be able to read what is going on from C's perspective. Speaking of C, she is like an angel on earth and all I can say to her is that I pray she will continue to spread her wings and fly and hopefully she will land on the pages somewhere else that are as like clouds in the sky."

Grace and Peace, Yvonne Pointer

A PS from Erica....

OooooH No you can't go C... who will pop up on this site with a great uplifting message for us ladies to hear? we will miss you so dearly C.
But like Yvonne said, sometimes change is good, even if we don't want things to change.
Well I hope somewhere down the line you will come back to us here. Until then C and Curvation you all stay blessed, keep your head up and press on and don't forget the family we all have become on this long road. I am officially SAD now. Byeee ;.(
Much love always to C, Queen, and all my sisters on here take care.

If i could meet Queen in person i would tell her what a wonderful job you have done for her ;.)

SOME SAD NEWS

I've been holding off writing this post for a few weeks because I haven't quite known how to tell you all the news -- our Curvation Nation Blog is coming to an end at the end of the month.

There are many reasons why a brand changes direction, not the least of which is a change in management. In our case, this change requires -- understandably -- a transition period, a hiatus of sorts. A time when the brand is looked at and examined from every angle to determine it's next evolution.

It's true I've known since the beginning of the year but I wanted to hold off telling you for as long as possible. Maybe I was hoping it wouldn't happen. Hey, I'm 'C' -- being positive is what I do!

Anyway, check back in on Friday for my final post. I'll have all the news about whether or not the archives will stay around, even if the Blog itself isn't active. We have two years of amazing material...your thoughts as well as mine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Love,

~ C

CURVACEOUS OSCAR

amy adams

Hope everyone caught the 80th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday night. For a show that was almost a no-show, it ended up being a pretty great show -- all things considered. Not the least of which was I'm sure record-time to pull it all together...I mean, it hasn't been very long since the writers' strike was resolved. So bravo to the show!

But...truth be told, for me, the Academy Awards is not about the nominees and the winners, or the writing, the jokes and the film clips...it's about the dresses! Of course! :)

And there were some beautiful ones...a show rich with style and elegance. No one seemed overdone or underdone, but in true Goldilocks fashion, they were all "just right". I did notice a lot of strapless gowns though... I thought more this year than ever. Clearly a look to look out for in the stores this Spring.

And I just happened to notice that HosieryStreet.com is having a massive "super sale" on Curvation intimates -- the fab Stay Up Strapless bra and a Stay Up Midriff Minimizer. Both perfect under-there wear for strapless gowns.

SING OUT LOUD

The other day I was feeling pretty down...and was having a tough time shaking it off. Especially because I couldn't pinpoint exactly what was wrong! Now that I'm writing about it, I'm hearing the lyrics to a favorite sing-along Carpenters song in my head, you know the one: Rainy Days and Mondays.

Ha! Those words are perfect for describing what was going on with me that day!

HAPPY HEARTS DAY

heart

It's not every day that you wake up with love on your mind and hearts on the brain! But such is the effect of Valentine's Day for many, if not most of us.

Well, most of us who aren't working mothers and/or working professionals and/or... working, period.

In fact, I very nearly forgot about it altogether!

ROOT-AID

You've heard me talk about this before, the rapport between hair and confidence. Specifically, how having gray roots can negatively impact your self-esteem. And how, once you cover them, you suddenly feel on top of your game.

Well, I was in the salon the other day and happened upon one of the best between-color, root touch-up 'pens' I've tried to date.

It's called Quick Tint, and full disclosure here, it was developed by two people I've known for ages and have worked with on and off throughout those years. The 'he' o the team used to own a makeup company and the 'she' is a haircolorist in New York City.

How proud am I?! :)

FASHION CIRCUS

heart truth

Yes, It's that time of year again when the fashion press from around the world gather in New York City, specifically in The Tents at Bryant Park, to partake of the chaos, the charm, and yes, the circus that is Fashion Week.

And yours truly, C, is one of them....yay! and sigh

Now in case you may have rolled your eyes (just a little) when you read my 'sigh', let me explain. Yes, it's fun and cool and I love being a part of it all but when you spend consecutive days from morning till night in high heels, running all over the city to catch show after show, the glam loses a bit of its glow.

Thank goodness I have you to write to...and vent, just a little ;)

SAG-FREE AT THE SAG AWARDS

Although award show season celebrity sightings have been few and far between this year, the Screen Actors Guild Awards (via Style.com) gave us our fill along with a full range of dressing-after-five options.

There were cocktail shorts and pant suits, paillette-laden diva dresses and strapless goddess gowns.

Whatever your fancy, "fancy dress" has never appeared so diverse. AMERICA FERRARA SAG '08

HELLO, MY NAME IS

I have this wonderful little book that I re-discovered only recently. It's actually a small book taken out of a larger one written by Richard Bach, called Illusions. In it, the main character is always referring to a little book for answers of sorts (direction, really) to life's puzzles and questions.

The tiny book is called "Messiah's Handbook" and I opened it yesterday and found this. Kind of perfect and definitely worth sharing...
